The Best Way to Clean your Mate’s Straw

The Best Way to Clean your Mate’s Straw

Why is the mate’s straw blocked? It happens when the yerba mate dust accumulates in the bulb and does not let the water pass. But we have good news, it's easy to fix and it will only take 10 minutes of your time.

We are going to give you some tricks to keep your straw clean and prevent it from clogging so you can enjoy your mates.

How to clean the mate’s straw?

There are different ways to do it. So, here you have some options:

- Bicarbonate: Put water in a pot and add between two and three tablespoons of baking soda. Then, place the straw(s) inside and leave them there until the water boils. You will see how the water darkens, and that's okay, it means that our cleaning is working. When the water reaches the boiling point, remove the straws and leave them on a clean cloth until they dry on their own.

- Vinegar: You can do the same cleaning by replacing the baking soda with vinegar.

- Salt: Like the previous option, you can perform the same cleaning by replacing the baking soda with 3 tablespoons of salt.
