We tell you here, the most typical dishes of Argentina:

The alfajor, this popular Argentinean sweet is irresistible in all its versions: chocolate, meringue, filled with dulce de leche or fruit. If you still don't know what it is or want to know its history, you can learn all about it by clicking here.

Mate is not a food, but yerba mate could not be left out. This Argentine custom is a must, for breakfast, snacks, meetings with friends, family, even at work and always with biscuits. Here we tell you more about mate and how to prepare it.

Dulce de leche, the most traditional sweet of the country. Who would have thought that only 2 ingredients such as milk and sugar, cooked over low heat would create something so delicious.

Asado, the most typical food in Argentina. More than a meal, it is a moment of encounter between friends or family, who share the ritual of lighting the fire, while grilling different types of beef or pork and "achuras".

The choripan, is a classic of the asado, although it can be eaten on its own. It is grilled bread and chorizo, i.e. a chorizo sandwich. It is usually topped with another asado icon: chimichurri, a sauce made with parsley, garlic, oregano, olive oil and vinegar. You can get it ready-made or in its prepared version.

The provoleta, another essential of the asado, is cheese cooked on the grill in a container for a few minutes and then served almost melted and crunchy on the outside.

Empanadas, fortunately they are sold by the dozen, because just one is not enough. Filled with meat, vegetables, cheeses, they are delicious but unless you make them homemade, the best thing to do is to have empanada covers in the freezer for when you feel like eating them.

The milanesa, perhaps one of the favorite dishes of Argentines. It is just a thin slice of meat coated in breadcrumbs and fried. It is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.

Last but not least, polenta. Ideal for cold days with a little sauce or grated cheese.
