Recipe For Argentine Empanadas: How To Make Them?

Recipe For Argentine Empanadas: How To Make Them?

When cooking empanadas, there’s two things you need to pay the most attention to. These are: the filling and the type of dough you are going to use. The dough used on classic Argentine empanadas is delicious. If you wish to save the kneading time, you can buy it from our web and have it shipped to the USA.

There are lots of different varieties of empanadas throughout Argentina. Although recipes change according to each province, there are some common ingredients that are combined in different ways to make various fillings. Some of these are: meat, onion, egg, bell pepper, olives and potatoes. Anyway, the truth is empanadas can be filled with whatever you wish. Ham and cheese, vegetables and chicken are other options.

Here’s what you need to keep in mind about the meat: for it to be juicier, the meat must be cut with a knife instead of chopped. If you are looking to try premium Argentine meat cuts, you can also find these on our web -Latinafy- where we offer international shipping of Latin American products to the USA.

The best thing about Argentine empanadas is the cumin and chili pepper flavor, which distinguishes them from the empanadas you might find in other countries in the world.

Ingredients needed to cook Argentine empanadas:
- 12 empanada lids
- 500 gr of meat (the loin is a great option)
- 2 onions
- 1 green onion
- 2 eggs
- 1 bell pepper
- 80 gr of olives

How to make Argentine empanadas: Step-by-step recipe:

1. Start by cooking the egg. Boil it for 10 minutes, let it cool down and later cut it into small cubes.

2. Sauté green onion and chopped onion. When they turn golden brown, add chopped bell pepper.

3. When the vegetables are ready, remove them from the pan and sauté the meat in that same pan.

4. Combine the meat with the vegetables and the boiled egg. Add any other ingredients you might want in the filling (we suggest you try adding olives to it!). Season with cumin, ground chili pepper and paprika and let it cool.

5. Fill the empanada lids with the filling you have prepared. To do this, wet the edge of half a disk of dough, add a spoonful of the filling in the center and tighten the edges, sealing them. (You can use a fork to make this easier).

6. Put the empanadas in a roasting pan with some oil and cook them for about 15 minutes or until the dough is well browned.

And you’re done! By this time, your Argentine empanadas will be ready for you to try them and feel just like an authentic Argentinian would.
