The small notebook features smooth pages reproducing Frida Kahlo's artwork "Diego y yo" (1949), part of the "Third Eye: Costantini Collection" exhibition at Malba, starting from August 26th, 2022.

"Diego y yo" (1949) by Frida Kahlo (Coyoacán, 1907–1954) set a record for Latin American art in November 2021 when Eduardo F. Costantini acquired it for his personal collection. It stands as Frida's last bust self-portrait before her death in 1954, depicting her husband Diego Rivera's face as a third eye. Symbolizing the tempestuous relationship between Frida and Diego, married for almost 25 years in a passionate yet turbulent marriage. Despite Kahlo's opposition to Catholicism, she incorporated elements of Christian iconography into her work, with spirituality permeating her life and art. The cyclical conception of time – and the perpetual continuity between life and death – in Mesoamerican cultures profoundly influenced her perspective. Also shaping her worldview are Egyptian culture, Hinduism, Buddhism, and occult doctrines, from which she drew the representation of the third eye (featured in "Diego y yo"). Dualism frequently appears in her work; undoubtedly, the central binary is that of herself and Diego, associated with universal dialectics such as masculine and feminine, life and death, sun and moon, body and mind.
