Tokyo. In Jinbocho, the world's largest bookstore district, days pass quietly. In the streets away from traffic, people stroll curiously among hundreds of books, comics, screenplays, and even ancient maps: there's variety for every kind of reader. In Morisaki bookstore, a small family business, barely five people fit. Piles of books cram the shelves until they invade every corner, and when the bell over the door announces a customer's arrival, its owner, Uncle Satoru, immediately peeks out from behind the counter. Recently, his wife, Momoko, has been helping him, but his niece Takako also accompanies him in his free time. For Satoru and Momoko's wedding anniversary, the young girl gifts them a romantic trip. Satoru is worried about the bookstore, but he agrees to let Takako replace him for a few days and move to the upstairs room, as she has done in the past. Diving back into the timeless atmosphere of Jinbocho, with its colorful array of regulars and visitors, will be the push Takako needed. For the first time in a long while, she feels excited. Because a bookstore, she discovers, is populated by stories; not only those hidden in books, but also those of the people who frequent it. And those stories create bonds. But then why is Satoru behaving so strangely? And what does the woman with the red umbrella at the end of the street want? How many more stories, emotions, and treasures does Morisaki bookstore hold within its walls?
