The Yerba mate Picada Vieja is an agroecological yerba and produced under the barbacuá system. It is a family business headed by Guillermo Grudke and produced in the department of Guarani, in the province of Misiones.

The exclusive Barbacuá-type drying system revives a technique used by the Guarani more than 400 years ago and incorporates technologies in the combustion systems to obtain a smoke-free product, but with the unmistakable flavor and aroma of this type of yerba.

It is a slow and delicate dehydration process in which the leaves are exposed to the heat of the wood fire for 10 or 12 hours, thus taking the essences of a select group of woods, such as anchovy, alecrín, and venison cinnamon, among others. Then the yerba is parked for 24 months, because during the period from 18 to 24 months the yerba acquires qualities that, with less parking, it would be impossible to obtain.

Among the great advantages of this extensive maturation is the fact that it does not produce acidity, its taste is softer on the palate, its aroma is delicate and of course, it is more durable.

These characteristics are the differential brand of Picada Vieja and places it as a product of biodynamic agriculture, which promotes the integration between the human being, the animal, vegetable kingdom and the soil with the aim of forming an agricultural individuality that achieves its self-sustainability in the economic aspect strengthening the agricultural producer and the environment.
