Does Yerba Mate Expire?
The Yerba Mate is a plant and a originary drink from the Sudamerican countries, it belongs to the tea family and it is composed of dry crushed leaves and little sticks from this plant. It can be drunk in any recipient but it is traditionally drunk in the mate which is an original mug exclusive for this beverage. Its name comes from the Quechua word “Mati” which in english means Pumpkin.
As of today, legally, every package of Yerba has a due date after 24 months from its packing date. Some studies show this time can vary in accordance to the type of package used.
It is said that with a simple paper package, the product's quality lasts much less time. Instead with a tri laminated package, the quality can last up to 3 or 4 years without anything damaging happening. It can be permeable to humidity and to the loss of odour.
